Finally a Response

PD finally got back to us about some resolutions to the problems Kevin found.
- 2 of the issues have apparently been fixed (we have not been in the house lately so we will check this out tomorrow).
- 4 of the issues were explained how they are going to be fixed
- 5 of the issues are being discussed with the Construction Manager and remedial action will be determined and will be advised in due course

Frustration a plenty

Things are very frustrating at the moment. It has been nearly two weeks since PD has received Kevin's inspection report and we have had NO feedback! PD have had BSS back to check over the things in Kevin's report, I guess to decide whether to believe it but we have heard nothing about this either. Our site supervisor is not returning any of David's calls so we have no idea what is going on. Nothing has been done on the house over the last few days and even though we just paid the massive lockup invoice we still do not have a roof on our study so we are not even really at lockup.

Lockup we think?

It says in the Porter Davis 24x7 system that we are at lockup on 23rd May which is Friday but we just received the invoice today saying Congratulations! Your lockup stage is now complete??? As you can see from the pics it looks like we are at lockup. All the brickwork is finished and the doors are on but the little roof above those three windows you see in the front is not on yet (hence it rains inside the house).

It is very exciting to see the house starting to look like the display home. We have still heard nothing from our site supervisor in response to Kevin's Inspection and what they are going to do about the problems (it has been a week since they got the report). All we have heard from our CSR is that plastering is being put off until further notice. The lack of feedback is annoying.

This is our lovely front door that will be stained eventually. We are very happy with it.

The plaster has been delivered
The cornices have also been delivered, unfortunately they were left in this position in the entry as over the weekend it rained lots and the rain came in the study roof that has not been built yet and totally flooded the floor. The cornices are now laying in a pool of water. I'll just say they had better not use the bottom ones that have been laying in the water for days.

Bifold Doors In

Our bifold doors to the alfresco have been installed today. After many many clarifications with PD over the bifolds these are still not how we wanted them. We wanted the right hand door to be able to be opened as a separate door on its own but with this unit you have to open at least two doors like I have demonstrated. They still look really nice though, I will speak to admin about it but it is not a big deal.
Fully Open
We also had our independent inspector Kevin from New Homes Inspections (found him on the Homeone Forum) come to inspect the house today. There are quite a few issues to be rectified which will most certainly put plastering off. He will send me his report tomorrow.

Insulation

The wall insulation has been installed today and the frame has been straightened. The brickies are nowhere to be seen so lockup may still be a while off.

Jessie's girl

We were hoping for lockup today but the brickies were not there yesterday and are not there today either so it will not be happening today. The brickies have got around the entire house now but still have the top section to finish.

They have bricked right up to the roof on the right side of the house and a small section of the back.
The air conditioning an heating ducts were put in yesterday.
Why the title to this post you ask? When I got there today the sparkies were on site and the radio was on and one of the guys was singing Rick Springfield's Jessie's girl at the top of his voice. This was one of my favourite songs from the 80's so I thought it was great!
Here's a reminder if anyone needs one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adaYUM5wl7c

Every man and his dog is on site today

There are heaps of workmen on site today and yes as the post heading states there is even a big black dog sitting very obediently in our lounge room. I went out today because I had an appointment to show the guys where we would like the noggins but by the time I got there they had already been done in the places that I had previously marked so yaaaay we got our noggins!

This is an updated pic to show the brickwork now extends round to the front of the house. It is amazing how much they have done since yesterday arvo. Also the little "hat" things are now on the edges of our roof now, I have no idea what these are called. Things are looking very good for a Friday lockup, the frame guy said this is one of the fastest he has ever seen from frame to lockup. Tomorrow it will be 9 weeks since day one on site.

No rain and lots of progress

David spoke to our site supervisor today who seemed to be saying that the roof tilers had been delayed and would be coming on Wednesday. I decided to go past as he said the brickies would be there today, I was astounded to find we have a roof! Yes the roof tiles seem to be about 90% finished, I could not believe it! They are aiming for lockup to be this Friday.

The brick layers were busy on the right side of the house.

Lots of bricks done!

It has been raining most of the day today as well. It was even hailing earlier. I went by the house not expecting to find much but it looks like the brickies have been busy this week. They were not there today so this must have been done earlier this week. How exciting!

This is the left side of the house, the brickwork is two thirds finished on this side.

This is the back of the house where the brickwork is half finished.
Some guys were on the roof getting it ready for the tiles, they were working hard on the complicated frame work of wood to lay the tiles on, you can sort of see it in this pic.

Miserable Weather

Our roof tiles are still sitting on the ground. The weather has been terrible so I'm sure that would be holding things up. I drove past today and it looked like the gutters may have been worked on and some brickwork as been done around the back (I think). It was too wet to even take any pics or look properly but I will try again on Saturday. There may be some progress before then but the weather forecast is not good.
