Gutters Started and Roof Tiles Delivered

The garage brickwork and the roof trusses were completed last week. Now the guttering is almost finished and the roof tiles have been delivered. It is hard to get a good photo today because the ground is so wet, I would have got covered in mud if I tried to take a picture down the side of the house. No work was done today we assume because the weather is bad.

This is a better view of the guttering
This is a close up of our roof tiles, it looks like they have delivered the right ones.
The is the best pic we could get of the overall front

This is a picture from last Thursday it shows the extended roof line of the Alfresco. The standard roofline is in line with the two walls, this was an upgrade.

All Wrapped Up

Todays lovely surprise was that our house has been fully wrapped and gleaming in the sun! This makes everything look a lot neater and when you go inside it really feels like you are in a room because you can't see straight out the wall anymore.

Most of the garage brickwork has been finished they just have to bring a crane in tomorrow to lift this giant steel bar across the opening of the garage so they can brick above it.
This is the back wall of our garage with the door that will be the entrance from the garage to the side yard
This pic shows most of the garage has been completed. The rest of the roof frame is still on track to be completed on Thursday which is great except that the frame invoice will follow immediately after that! The next things to happen after that will be facia, gutters and roof tiles.

Garage Brick Laying Finally Started!

Finally the brick laying has begun. They are doing an exceptionally neat job so far. The mortar we have chosen is "off white" so it will dry a lot lighter than it looks now. The bricks are Hawthorn and we are very happy with the colour. The guys told us that it will take til Thursday to brick up the garage and then the frame guys have to come back to complete the roof so we should see roof tiles delivered.

On an administration note our customer service officer finally got back to us a little over three weeks after she said she would saying that they would not refund us for the soil that was added to the pile of rubbish that we had to remove. This response was totally expected but three weeks later? The issue was already well and truly in the past, customer service in the administration area is again very under whelming.

Plumbing

The plumbing was done today so there are lots of little pipes all over the place.
Still no bricks have been layed so I think this is causing things to go slower this week.

This is our ensuite you can see the plumbing has been done for the side by side basins.

More Roof Trusses

The windows are now all in except for the bathroom. The roof trusses are almost finished, they cannot totally finish until the garage is bricked. It looks like the brick layers have been delayed so we are not sure what is going on there.

Frame Day Five

Almost all the windows are in and the roof trusses were being started today. The guy on the roof is really nice and has agreed to put some extra noggins in the frame so hanging towel rails and TVs etc. We met the site supervisor for the first time today. The brick work on the garage is now scheduled for Monday as the brick layer has been delayed. This is a picture standing in the Alfresco. The two big windows are in the dining room.

Frame Day Three

Tonight was the most exciting visit to the site so far. They have finished 90% of the frame! We were able to walk through each room and see little details like the broom closet, the pantry and the walk in robe. It still looks sooooo big, I thought it was supposed to look small when it was just a frame??

Some bricks have been delivered. Maybe they really will start laying them tomorrow? The colour is Hawthorn from Austral Brick's Melbourne range. The colour looks good so far so hopefully we will like them when they are laid.
The windows have also been delivered. The colour is Stone Beige although they look black because they have tape on them. The windows in the front will be timber so they come from a different supplier.

Frame Day Two

About one third of the frame has been finished today.

Frame Started

We can't believe how quickly things are happening. As you can see the frame was started today. It is really exciting to see where each room is going to be. Apparently the entire frame including the roof trusses will be completed by Monday. Even the brick work is going to start on Thursday as apparently the side of the garage needs to be bricked for them to complete the roof section.

This pic shows our rumpus room at the back right. The section of dirt is our alfresco area and the room in the left of the photo next to the Alfresco is the dining room. The pipes are in the kitchen.

Finally a beautiful slab

We have driven by a few times this week hoping for action shots of a slab being poured but we have had very bad weather so we were not surprised not to see one. Finally today it has happened, these photos were taken at 11.30am and they had nearly finished so obviously it does not take very long. We will be really glad to get the slab invoice as it is a sign of progress. The frame is supposed to start on Monday.

Waffle Pod

Wow they have been working hard. The Waffle Pod is finished and they are ready to pour the slab, maybe that will happen tomorrow?

It looks HUGE from this photo!
